Same Same... Folio Exchange

My Specimens...

A little bit about this project.
Each leaf was relief printed in black onto acetate. These acetate prints were then used as positives for screen printing. I exposed all my leaves onto a screen and printed it three times. Once on fluoro orange cardboard, once on brown paper and once onto purple plastic.

The image above is a photo of all my leaves before they were distributed for the exchange folios. Each participant of the exchange was given one orange, one brown and one purple printed leaf - chosen randomly. Each participant received a completely unique set of prints and each print had its own specimen number.

New York - Brooklyn Museum

My very rushed, and unprepared, visit to the Brooklyn Museum resulted in seeing a ridiculous amount of work, but not very thoroughly.
Of all the work I saw, the Eva Hesse exhibition Eva Hesse Spectres 1960 is what I think of when I remember my time at the Brooklyn Museum.

Eva Hesse, No title, 1960, oil on canvas, 36x36 inches

There's a much better photo, and information about the exhibition here.

I was also very excited to see a Kara Walker pieceBurning African Village Play Set with Big House and Lynching, 2006, painted laser cut steel.

You can see more images of this piece on the Brooklyn Museum website, here
