Reduction Lino - Final Layer

The final layer was completed at 12.30am...

The block, just before I inked it up for the final layer.

The final image! It's a bit hard to see but I'm really happy with the results.

I really like how my experimental prints turned out. I love the crazy colours! I'm now wishing I'd printed some more colour variations... I'll remember for next time.

And we're done. Tomorrow I set up for marking.

Reduction Lino - Eighth Layer

Reduction Lino - Seventh layer

The first layer where I get to print over my whole image! Gone are the days of bricks!
This was the layer that that reminded me why I love printmaking so much. This is the moment when, just as you finish cutting and are about to ink up, you question if the 20-ish hours spent chipping away at the lino will actually prove worthwhile. I can't describe the relief (no pun intended) when this layer turned out just as I'd hoped it would!

This is my tree...

This is a close up of what my block looked like before I printed.

One of my experimental prints..

Reduction Lino - Sixth layer

Next layer, tree!

Reduction Lino - Fifth layer

Reduction Lino - Fourth Layer

This is what my lino block looks like at the moment.

And the printed version...

Some detail of the bricks. Very important considering the bricks and the leaves on the tree are the only things actually progressing right now.

Leaves...

I'm starting to get a bit bored with bricks and leaves. Can't wait for the day I get to print the actual tree!

Reduction Lino - Third Layer

Before I can do anything exciting with the whole image I have to finish printing the the bricks and the leaves in the tree. It's good to know I'm getting them out of the way but it also feels like I'm hardly progressing at all!
Unfortunately my photos aren't great. My camera has scratches on the lens, so each image weird spots on it.. You get the idea though... Ignore spots.

Reduction Lino - First layer

It's taken a while to get these images up but it's finally happening! Here is my lino block ready for it's first layer of ink.

And here is the first layer printed....

Some 'experimental' prints. One with a wood grain printed under the first layer and another just playing around with some strange colours....

Reduction lino

I am in the process of learning how to print a reduction lino. It's all very exciting and a little bit scary. I'm running out of time and still haven't actually printed anything! I'll try to post images of my prints as I progress.... So far I'm still cutting out ALL my negative space!!
